Registration for the 2009-2010 school year
August 6, 2009 is the first day of school for students in grades 1-12 attending traditional RSD schools in New Orleans. Eighth grade students who are waiting for the results of the summer LEAP retest and will start August 10, but ALL other eighth graders will start school August 6. The first day of school for Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten pupils is August 17.
Registration for the 2009-2010 school year is continuing for the RSD's direct operated and charter schools. Registration is taking place at individual school sites only.

Registration checklist:
- Proof that you live in New Orleans, such as a utility or phone bill
- Proof of your child’s age, such as a birth certificate or passport
- Your child’s Social Security Card, if available
- Your child’s shot record
- If your child has been enrolled elsewhere, bring your the most recent report card or any other records that the parent may have
- If your child receives special education services, bring the most recent Individualized Education Program (IEP)
Please note that immigrants do not need to bring any documents on their immigration status.
If you wish to enroll your child in Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten, check with your neighborhood school to find out if spots are still available.
