• How do I request a substitute?

  Absences can be reported here , clicking on the KASS Login link and entering your ID and PIN. Your principal should be able to provide you with your ID and PIN.  Absences can also be reported by calling 1-800-942-3767 from a touch tone phone.  You will need your ID and PIN in order to report an absence over the phone.  If you are reporting an absence after 7am the day of the absence, please call the local Kelly Staffing office at 504-362-5064.

• Do my sick days from 2008-2009 carry over to this school year?

  Yes. Any used sick leave carries over from one year to the next.

• Will my benefits remain the same over the summer?

  Yes.  As long as you are still employed with RSD, your benefits will remain over the summer.  You will continue to receive your regular paycheck with

• I need to change my banking information for my direct deposit. What do I do?

  You can update your banking information by logging onto LEO and changing your information under My Info.  If you would prefer, you can come in to HR and complete a Direct Deposit Authorization Form.  If you come in to HR, you will need to bring a voided check or verification of routing and account number from your bank.

• I believe I am being paid on the wrong step. How can I get my pay adjusted?

  If you believe you are being paid at the wrong level, please contact Ashley Johnson at ashley.johnson@rsdla.net. 

• How do I log onto LEO to see my check stub?

  You can go to the Employees page and click the link for LEO or click here to go directly to the LEO site. You will need your personnel number.  If it is your first time to log on, you will need to click on Password Maintenance and follow the directions.

• I moved over the summer, how do I update my address?

  You can update your address by logging onto LEO and changing it under Personal Info.  You may also come in to HR and complete a Change of Address form.  You cannot change your address to an out of state address because of tax regulations.

• How do I access my check stub?

  You can access your check stub by logging into Louisiana Employees Online (LEO) at https://leo.louisiana.gov/irj/portal.

• I need to update my banking information. Can I update it in LEO?

  Yes. You can update your banking information in LEO. Be sure to update the information by 3 p.m. on Friday one week before payday. If you change banking information too late, it can cause problems with your direct deposit.

• I need to see someone in HR, but what if I can’t get to Poland Avenue before 4:30 p.m.?

  Human Resources representatives can work with you to meet your needs.  Please email your Client Service Representative to schedule an appointment outside of HR business hours.

• This is my third year on a Temporary Authority to Teach (TAT). What should I do?

  TATs can only be renewed for 3 years at the discretion of the district.  If this is your third year, you must meet requirements for a Practitioner’s License or a standard certificate by the end of the school year in order to be eligible to work in a Louisiana school system.  If you need assistance in meeting certification requirements, please contact Amber Morgan.  She will be happy to meet with you.

• How do I renew my expired certificate?

  You should contact Amber Morgan at amber.morgan2@rsdla.net to schedule an appointment.  You will need to bring official transcripts demonstrating that you have earned the required 9 credit hours for renewal.

• I have benefits questions. Who do I contact?

  You can contact rsd.benefits@rsdla.net.  A Benefits representative will be happy to assist you.

• Who is my Client Service Representative and what does a Client Service Representative do?

  You can call 504-373-6200 x20156 to find out who your Client Service Representative is.  Client Service Representatives are here to assist employees with any Human Resources questions or issues that they have. 

• Do teachers’ leave days roll over from school year to school year?

  Yes.  Any unused leave will roll over from one school year to the next.

• I am having problems accessing my RSD email. How do I get assistance?

  You can email the help desk at helpdesk@rsdla.net or you can call 504-373-6200 extension 2HELP (24357).

• How do I know which doctor I can use?

  If you have Humana, you can visit www.humana.com and use the physician finder.  You can also visit www.groupbenefits.org for more information on all of your state benefits.

• I have questions about retirement. Who should I contact?

  For retirement questions, you should contact the Benefits Department at rsd.benefits@rsdla.net.

• I have been hearing a lot about HQ lately. What does this mean?

  HQ stands for Highly Qualified.  This is a term that is defined by No Child Left Behind.  For teachers, HQ refers to meeting certain guidelines to teach certain courses.  For example, if you teach 7^th grade science and you have passed the Middle School Science content area Praxis, then you are Highly Qualified for the course you are teaching.  For more information on HQ visit http://www.doe.state.la.us/lde/tsac/1790.html.

• Can I submit my Praxis/Tuition Reimbursement request before I receive my scores or grades?

  No.  The RSD can only reimburse costs associated with tests or coursework with satisfactory scores or grades.  Please submit your request once you receive documentation of satisfactory scores or grades.

• Does RSD have to follow Civil Services Rules for hiring? What is the difference between classified and unclassified state employees?

  All RSD Human Resources policies and practices are aligned with Louisiana statutes.  Classified and non-classified employees have different protections and rules governing their employment.  For detailed information on classified and non-classified employees, go to www.louisiana.gov.

• What is LaTAAP and should I be in it?

  LaTAAP is the Louisiana Teacher Assistance and Assessment Program. The program has two basic purposes: to provide new teachers with a planned program of leadership and support from experienced educators, and to provide assurance to the state prior to the issuance of a permanent Louisiana teacher certificate that the new teacher demonstrates competency in the understanding and use of the Louisiana Components of Effective Teaching, the teaching standards that form the assessment criteria.
